Learning Farsi alfabet 09 - Learning Persian Alphabet (09)

Welcome to the ninth episode of the Persian Learning Alphabet Series. In this lesson, you will learn how to write “g,” “j” and “f.” Among these three, “f” is the only one with a new shape. For the other two, you only need to add dots and lines. Let’s read some notes about these three letters before watching the video.

“g” in Farsi

For many Farsi learners, “g” and “j” sounds are completely different. But in some languages like Arabic, the “g” sound does not exist. Therefore, they may pronounce “g” as “j.” If you already know the Arabic alphabet “g” is the third letter you must add to your list for completing your Persian alphabet.

Writing “g” is very easy. Do you remember how to write “k?” You can check the previous lesson if you had forgotten its shape. But a quick reminder here:

ک   کـ

Now you only need to add a little line parallel to the top line to write “g.”

“f” in Farsi

You need to learn a new shape to write “f.” But do not worry, it is not complicated. It looks like a combination of “و” and “ب” with a dot on top.

Notice that the “f” and “v” sounds are both labio-dental and sometimes it can be difficult to distinguish between the two. You can practice the two sounds in the upcoming episode.

It is now time to practice some new sentences in Farsi. But before going to sentences, you can try writing down the following words in the Farsi script. The next step is putting them together and making sentences.

– fardâ = tomorrow

– barf = snow

– juje(h) kabâb = chicken kebab

– goje(h) = tomato

– gorbe(h) = cat

– sag = dog

– mixorim = we eat

– mibaram = I take

Can you now create a text using these words? Here is a hint. You can either write the text below in Farsi or create your own. You can also check previous lessons to review the vocabularies you have learned to write.
