Kitchenware, Appliance and Furniture in Farsi

kithcenware in farsi - Kitchenware, Appliance and Furniture in Farsi

Learning a language is an interminable process. You can learn in many different ways by using course books, living with native speakers, listening to music, or reading books. But then, some words are always more difficult to remember because they are not mentioned so often in daily life. Ironically, some of these words are the names of the utensils we usually use while cooking or cleaning our houses. Most people open their cupboards or turn on their stove without thinking about what they are called in other languages. But if you try to remember the name of things (such as kitchenware in Farsi)  you use in daily life or you see around yourself, you can learn Persian faster. We wrote this part by looking around and making a note of everything we see. To tell the truth, we learned some English words in this process. In case we have skipped useful words, please let us know in the comments.

But before going to the vocabulary part about kitchenware and furniture in Farsi, we need to remind you that most of the appliances are imported to Iran and they kept their English or French names, especially in the field of computers and the internet. In some cases, the pronunciations are changed according to the Persian syllable structure or phonological rules. For instance, Persian syllables are CV, CVC, or CVCC. Therefore, a word like “scan” cannot be pronounced in Persian as in English. You need to add an “e” to the beginning of the syllable to make it Persian and pronounce it as “eskan”. Moreover, you can make verbs by using two frequent Persian light verbs “kardan”, to do, or “šodan”, to become. Take “dilit kardan” as an example, you can easily guess what a sentence like “man in fâyl ro dilit kardam” means.

To help you figure out which English names are used in almost a similar way in Persian, we prepared the following table. Some of them have Persian equivalents which are rarely used.
